An Open Letter to Free Presbyterian Members

"Yet, surely, there must be some who will fling aside the dastard love of peace, and SPEAK OUT for our Lord, and for his truth. A craven spirit is upon many, and their tongues are paralyzed. Oh, for an outburst of true faith and holy zeal! C. H. Spurgeon

"Cease ye from man, whose breath is in his nostrils: for wherein is he to be accounted of?" (Is. 2:22)

"Sanctify the LORD of hosts himself; and let him be your fear, and let him be your dread." (Is. 8:13)

Dear Free Presbyterian Friend:
From the time the present ungodly power-sharing alliance was formed between the Moderator of the Free Presbyterian Church and SF/IRA, Rev. Ivan Foster has led the charge in very forcefully, strenuously, vigorously, and consistently voicing his fierce opposition to it. He has denounced it in the strongest possible terms for the wickedness it is, and has sharply rebuked all FP’s who are participating in it. For so doing, he has been unfairly castigated. In these things he has shown himself more than willing to be reviled in such a manner, and that he seeks not the praise of men, but the commendation of his God. (Luke 6:22; Gal. 1:10)

"For do I now persaude men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ." (Gal. 1:10)

"He values not Christ at all who does not value Christ above all."
Augustine

Would that the Lord would be pleased to raise up more like him willing to endure such things, and would with him, put on the “whole armour of God”, and go into the battle in the strength of the Lord to engage the enemy in this spiritual warfare being waged. Would that the Lord would raise up an army of fresh recruits to carry the banner of Christ . . men and women so full of zeal for the Truth, they would campaign as passionately and tirelessly for the Cause of Christ, as they would for any politician seeking election. Would that He would so stir up the people of God that it would give rise to a protest against all this wickedness on a scale not seen since the days of the Reformation, and that others would “behold their good works” and glorify the Father of Lights, their Father in Heaven!

In two prominent articles which we commend to you, one entitled “Whither Free Presbyterianism?”, the transcript of a sermon he preached on May 27, 2007 at Kilskeery FPC, and the other entitled The scandal of government funding for sodomites, Rev. Foster addresses the two principle issues confronting the FPC and the undermining effect they continue to have upon its’ gospel witness and testimony. Not so very long ago, the Preacher, Rev. Ian R.K. Paisley, wrote many similar articles condemning these things, and exhorting the Christian to exercise his individual duty and responsibility before God, in opposing them, two of which I would bring to your attention in this letter. I would ask the reader to thoughtfully and prayerfully consider Dr. Paisley’s words in light of the present power-sharing alliance, to which he is presently joined.

Oh that you might heed the call of Rev. Foster to “Take a Stand”, and prayerfully consider what you might do to assist those in the FPC who are contending for the faith and fighting the “good fight”. (1 Tim. 6:12)

May the Lord so inspire his people that they can no longer hold their peace in the face of this spectacle of ungodliness so shamelessly and flagrantly being promoted by those who know better.

“Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.” (James 4:17 )

May God grant you his grace to boldly speak out and stand up for the LORD!

I would ask you now to consider the words . . the comments of 'the Preacher', Rev. Ian Paisley in this excerpt from an E.I.P.S. article entitled: 'It's a sex - mad, mad world', where he has effectively affirmed the same truth (s) as that of Rev. Ivan Foster, in the aforementioned articles, exhorting 'Christians . . believers' to exercise their individual duty and responsibility before God by taking a Stand for Truth! Remember, these are the words of Dr. Paisley!
--------------------
"Clearly many governments and august and erstwhile bodies are falling pray to an ungodliness of an extreme nature. No longer can these iniquities be lightly dismissed as though they were on the periphery of matters. Sin is indulged and debated openly and without shame (as though the practise of such sin could be in some way found to have some validity), given centre stage and can be found at the heart of governments and many churches and institutions. The only remaining witenagemot will be the remnant of God’s elect, whose status and views will not be recognised or received by the worldly powers.

Their refuge will be false and will be a lie – Isaiah 28:15

‘Because ye have said, We have made a covenant with death and with hell are we at agreement; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall not come to us: for we have made lies our refuge and under falsehood have we hid ourselves.’

While people and supporters of such iniquity may claim to be wise they are but fools exchanging reality for fake.

The consequence of all this? It leads to lies for truth, wrong for right, God letting them go from him, allowing the degrading of their bodies for further unnatural relations and activities, the minds of such become depraved so that what ought not to be done, is so done. Then the finale - such are filled with every kind of wickedness, envy, murder and deceit. Thus although it is clear that they know such deserves death they continue to do such things and draw others into the corruption.

Lets pray for reformed leaders and governments and for positions of authority to be given to those who will uphold God’s law."

Consider as well the exhortation of "the Preacher", Rev. Ian Paisley, given to all Christians in these excerpts from his E.I.P.S. article entitled: 'Are we to lose our Protestant Heritage forever?':

Remember, these are the words of Dr. Paisley!
--------------------
"The Lord Jesus said of the believers, “Ye are the salt of the earth”. Salt is the great preservative. If it has lost its savour how can the matter salted be preserved? How salty are we Christians? That is the vital question. Alas, many truly born-again Protestants can scarcely preserve themselves from the appalling sins of our day let alone act as a preservative on society around them.
Our Protestant heritage must be preserved. Not by political alliances and parties. These too have proved to be but broken reeds. It must be preserved by the power of God in the lives of His own people. The people of God are not today spiritually mature and militant as their forefathers. Their great weakness lies in their undeveloped and stunted spiritual state. They are giants in a crowd but dwarfs when taken alone. They are almost totally ignorant of the personal and private duties of Christianity."
---------------------------
As a Gospel Minister, Ian Paisley has taken a solemn vow to declare "all the counsel of God" (Acts 20:27-28) and in so doing, uphold God's law. Whose law is he upholding in supporting/funding activities that promote sodomy . . immorality . . that which is an abomination to God? (Lev. 18:22) As a Gospel Minister, he is to set a godly example to the flock of God's heritage! Has he shown himself in these things to be the "salt of the earth"? (Matt. 5:13)
-------------------
F.P. Minister, Rev. John Greer’s sermon entitled ‘God’s Man in the Lions’ Den’ is a faithful exposition of Daniel 6 and gives the account of Daniel’s response to an ungodly law, which we would highly commend to every F.P. It can be accessed at this link: http://www.sermonaudio.com/sermoninfo.asp?SID=4170572438
In the case of Daniel as is known well to every child of God, rather than obeying a law which would have denied his God, Daniel was willing to break the law and suffer the consequences in order to keep God’s law. A summary of this sermon is contained in the words of Rev. Greer himself:

“When the law of man impinges on God’s law, the law of man is null and void.”
--------------------
God's people are "not of the world" (Jo. 17:16), but have been "translated into the kingdom of his dear son" (Col.1:13), and are to walk as "children of light" (Eph. 5:8), in a manner that "becometh the gospel of Christ". ((Phil. 1:27) We are his witnesses . . his ambassadors (2 Cor. 5:20) . . we are the "epistles of Christ." (2 Cor. 3:2-3) We are to "Sanctify the LORD" (Is. 8:13) . . that is, we are to show that our God is holy, by the holy lives we lead in obedience to his revealed Word, in the power of his indwelling Spirit, and according to the grace he gives us.

We are not to be "conformed to this world" (Rom. 12:2), and to its' rudiments . . its' mindset, but rather we are to have the "mind of Christ" (1 Cor. 2:16). We are to be pursuing a life marked by holiness, godliness, righteousness, in the fear of the Lord. That is why he saved us . . that we might be glorified in him! (II Thess. 1:12; John 17:10) We have been bought at a great price, even the precious blood of Christ. On that account we are to glorify God in our bodies and in our spirits, which are God's! (1 Pet. 1:18-19; 1 Cor. 6:20) We were created to walk in "newness of life" (Rom. 6:4) . . to "show forth the praises of Him who hath called us out of darkness into his marvelous light." (1 Pet. 2:9) "We are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works . . that we should walk in them." (Eph. 2:10)

John 17:14b: " . . . they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world"

John 17:17: "Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth."

The Kingdom of God is a spiritual kingdom and the work therein is of a spiritual nature. The particular call of the Gospel Minister is to preach, teach, and to expound the Scriptures - to make them plain. He is to preach Christ and make known the exclusive way of salvation in and through the person and work of our Lord & Saviour Jesus Christ. He is at all times to uphold the gospel standard. He must stand for the Truth, without hypocrisy, without contradiction, and without ambiguity. He is to spread the gospel . . . going into the world with the express purpose of evangelising the lost. (Matt.28:19-20) The Gospel Minister must be set for the defence of the gospel. (Phil. 1:17) He must preach against sin without reservation, restriction, or exception. (Lev. 18:22; 1 Cor. 6:9-11; Rom. 1:20-32; 1 Tim. 1:8-11) Sodomy Funding is the legal sanction of sin and is a denial of Truth! In point of fact it is licensing licentiousness. Furthermore, it is an insult and an affront to God's holiness and to the Cause of Christ. The Gospel Minister, as was said by and of Christ, must be about his Father's business (Luke 2:49), and not be entangled with the affairs of this life (II Tim. 2:4), as is the present Moderator of the FPC in his position of First Minister of Northern Ireland. He is to promote the interests and the character of God's Kingdom . . . righteousness, holiness, godliness, justice, judgment, truth.

The choice is one that all believers have to make . . . God or mammon . . Christ or the world! As individuals we must take a STAND!

Clearly Dr. Paisley has made his choice. . . he has left his "first love". (Rev. 2:4)

Now the Presbytery and the people of God must make theirs. The newly elected FPC Moderator must be first and foremost qualified in the sight of God. He must be wholly dedicated to his labour in the Lord and his unwavering , uncompromising committment to the Cause of Christ. He must be one who has no "conflict of interest" that would prevent him from standing for all that Christ stands for, and all that Christ is against! Our prayer is that those who must make this solemn decision will know the leading of the Lord, will be given the collective "mind of Christ", and will make a choice that will both honour God and will secure his blessing, and preserve a faithful witness and testimony for Jesus Christ to his praise and glory within the FPC.

"We love him, because he first loved us." (1 John 4:19)
---------------------
I would also commend to your listening a sermon preached by C.H.Spurgeon, entitled "The Tabernacle--Without the Camp", a call to the Christian to make a choice . . the world or Christ.
